Wednesday, May 9th, 2012 Little Heroes Supports Orphans in Russia

The Little Heroes Foundation has provided a grant to the Seltsovsky orphanage in Russia to help fund program materials for 50 children living there. The orphanage is run by the To Children with Love organization, which has brought over 5,000 children out of poverty since their beginning in 1998.

The main focus at the orphanage is “de-institutionalizing” orphaned and abandoned children. This is accomplished by a four-part program which includes 1) recognition and celebration of each child’s birthday, 2) opportunities to socialize with children who live in traditional families, 3) help with building attachment skills and peer relationships, and 4) taking a variety of like skills classes such as woodworking, sewing, cooking, etc. This four-part program has proven to help each child increase their self-esteem, interact with people different from themselves, motivate them for a better standard of living, and become eager to be a full participant in society.

The Little Heroes Foundation is proud to be supporting the 50 orphaned children living in the Seltsovsky orphanage and hopes to provide them with a greater ability to overcome their current situations.
